AzureByte is an out and about human who thrives on combining interesting things, ideas, and concepts just to see what will happen. In their free time they like to bake, craft, cuddle, and generally make the people around them feel amazing. Their day job as a polyamorous queer homemaker allows them the freedom to do all of this and more. For fun & growth they present workshops on a wide variety of topics ranging from gender and theology to self-care and crafting, which they’ve been doing since 2011.
Gender Consent: Negotiating Gender Play with Romantic and/or Sexual Partners
Gender is a pervasive power framework within our society. Gender play, non-binary gender roles, drag, and other forms of queering those expectations offers unique opportunities for fun and growth. However, negotiating gender roles outside of cultural assumptions can be terrifying. If you’ve ever wondered if gender play has a space in your relationship, are longing to have your gender seen in the scene, or are simply curious about the intersection of gender, power & play than this workshop is for you. We’ll begin with a quick breakdown of gender complexities before digging into the how and why people may wish to play (or not play) with gender. This workshop will explore how and when we share information about our bodies, build an expansive vocabulary to talk about our parts, and emphasize ways of obtaining active, enthusiastic, consent for all activities.
Sensory Swap: Consent Based Mini-Scenes
Sensory Swap is an intimate workshop that offers the opportunity to meet people, practice negotiation, and enjoy “mini-scenes” (2-4 min) at whatever level of sensation you and your partners prefer. Inspired by the mini-scenes that made Consent Based Spin the Bottle great this workshop is designed for those who prefer a smaller group, lots of time to be active, and less dependence on the fickleness of fate. Come alone or with a partner, as this workshop will involve randomly pairing with at least half of the other participants. Folks are also reminded that each mini-scene is required to have at least one non-sexual & non-physical option, and active consent is required for all activities. You are encouraged to bring whatever sensation, impact, or other toys you’d like to use or have used on you. Some loaner toys will be available, along with community support for idea generation if toys are lacking.
