Before You Leave Home
- Check the weather: You can find a current local forecast for Darlington at your favorite weather information source. Weather in Maryland can be variable, ranging from nice and warm to cool and rainy, so be sure to pack with this in mind. Thunderstorms are becoming common in recent years.
- Mass transit:
- The nearest airports are BWI and PHL.
- Amtrak stops in Aberdeen, as does the MARC Penn Line (weekday service only).
- We cannot provide rides from the train station. There are cab services available: Victory Cab: 410-272-0880; Eagle Taxi:410-322-3296 or email [email protected] .
- Housing & Bedding:
- Bring a sleeping bag or sheets and blankets and pillows.
- The cabins have standard single beds with plastic covers on the mattresses.
- Many attendees bring air mattresses for extra comfort.
- You'll also probably want at least 2 towels.
- You might also wish to bring a 'sex-in-the-field' blanket.
- If you are Tenting:
- Do not use anything that produces a flame-torches, lanterns, candles, stoves-inside your tent; you risk setting yourself, your tent and/or your bedding on fire.
- We also request that you flag your ropes with reflective or brightly-colored tape so that people can avoid them in the dark. If you don't have any, ask at HQ for some.
- Clothes:
- While our event is clothing-optional, clothes are often a good option.
- Layers are your friend.
- We strongly suggest at least one warm outfit, rain-gear of some sort and one pair of rain-friendly shoes.
- Bring fetish wear, sandals, hiking shoes, sexy outfits, comfy clothes.
- A hat or parasol may well mean the difference between a pleasant experience and a terrible sunburn. Bring one!
- A bathing suit if you don't want to skinny dip. The pool will be open!
- Food:
- Meals at Ramblewood are not included in your registration fee. You can purchase them at the dining hall at each meal time.
- If you have any special dietary needs feel free to convey them to the kitchen staff and be vigilant of any ingredients which you cannot tolerate. They will do their best to accommodate your needs.
- The Camp sells ice for personal coolers. Ask in the dining hall during meal hours.
- If you choose to cook your own food, please remember that cooking is not allowed inside cabins or on porches. We recommend you bring some kind of cover as it often rains in Maryland in September.
- Washing dishes in the cabin bathrooms is not allowed. There are hoses on the outside of the Barn, the Dining Hall and the Playspace. Please use them.
- Personal Care:
- If you're taking prescription medications, please bring ample amounts to last you the whole time you're on-site and appropriate storage.
- If you have a Medic Alert bracelet, please wear it all the time.
- If you have any medical issues we should know about please let us know when you check in and we'll put you in touch with our medical team so they can help ensure your safety and well being.
- You'll probably also want: soap, shampoo & conditioner, baby wipes, a basic first aid kit, razor, comb & brush, toothbrush & toothpaste, aspirin/ibuprofen/acetaminophen, bug repellent, sunblock and poison ivy remedies.
- Bring a water bottle. The camp uses local well water which is delicious and tested each year for potability.
- Good To Have:
- Flashlights: We suggest a flashlight and spare batteries since it gets dark at night and it can be difficult to navigate the site in the dark.
- Chairs/Mats: You may want a small portable chair for taking to classes or workshops or even for sitting around the cabins, tents or grounds. People have also been glad to bring with them a mat (like a yoga mat or similar) and/or a towel to sit or lie on in some classes.
- Tools & Miscellaneous: Stuff we've found useful and/or necessary: ear plugs, a mini sewing kit that includes a couple of safety pins, both a sledge hammer (for pounding stakes) and a claw hammer (for pulling them), extra bungee cords, extra tent stakes, duct or gaff tape, a clock, extra Ziploc bags and extra trash bags, a rain poncho, a pair of binoculars (for sky-watching or birding) etc.
- Clothing and Costumes:
- Dress code for the event is anything or nothing. The site is clothing optional and you are welcome to dress as you wish except in the Dining Hall where shoes and something which covers your butt and genitals are required.
- Please cover up when in the parking field or above.
- Fun stuff: Toys, games, fetish wear, cards, camp decorations & banners, your imagination...
- Do not bring pets or animal companions. We do welcome service animals accompanying people with special needs; please let us know ahead of time if you'll have one with you.
- Do not bring firearms.
- Do not bring illegal items or substances.
- Do not bring fireworks or sparklers. Glow sticks make great substitutes.
When you arrive on-site
- You may be greeted by our Gate Guards, if they are on duty. Be prepared to have them check for your name on the registration list. After you check in, you will simply need to show your badge to get into the site.
- Please don't ask our Gate Guards or Check-in staff if your friends have arrived at the event. They aren't allowed to give out that information due to our privacy policy. This policy exists for your protection as we have experienced issues with difficult exes and stalkers in the past and want to help avoid those issues in the future.
- If you arrive at the event before the day you have registered to arrive, you will be expected to pay an upgrade fee. If you can't remember which day you registered to arrive on, check your confirmation email. If you can't find your confirmation email, feel free to email the [email protected]for a copy of it. If you registered for a day pass, you can arrive any day you like, but must depart by 9 am the next day. There are no beds for day passes.
- Park your car in the parking lot and go to the gazebo there. If you arrive.
- You will need your legal photo id which must match the name you registered under (don't worry about middle names). If you don't have it, no matter who you are or who you know, you will be turned away from the event.
- Typical Check-in hours are:
- Wed 4p-10p
- Thurs 10a-10p
- Fri 10a-10p
- Sat 10a-4p
- If you arrive outside of those hours:
- You will need to radio for assistance.
- We will ask you to leave your legal ID with us overnight (we promise to keep it safe and confidential) and you'll get it back when you come back in the morning to check in.
- You will not be allowed to bring a vehicle past the parking field after the hour of 10p for safety reasons. We will be happy to help you bring a reasonable amount of your personal items to your cabin or campsite via golf cart, but please plan appropriately as we won't be able to make multiple trips. Think bedding and an overnight bag.
